What it’s about:
SportScheck has an excellent background in the running segment, especially with our SportScheck Run. We reach a broad audience, but mostly in the rookie and mid-level categories. With our new partner, On, we wanted to target top-tier runners and running communities to expand our consumer base. How did we plan to do this? By creating buzz and taking on a challenge that would resonate with runners on a "nerdy" level.
A little overconfidence never hurt nobody… right? Well, we had the perfect sparring partner for that mindset: Flo Neuschwander – On Ambassador and record holder in multiple running disciplines, always up for a challenge and ready to raise the bar.
SO LET’S BREAK A WORLD RECORD:
24 runners, 24 hours on a treadmill, 356 km to beat!
Event Promotion
To ensure our target group would hear about our world record attempt, we flooded all available media channels (owned and paid), featuring our team leader, Flo Neuschwanger.
To create an inclusive experience for the event, we selected 5 out of 24 runners from our community, as well as from those of our hosts, Flo Neuschwanger, Eugen Fink, and Maren Schiller. The sole criterion for selection was that the runners should be able to sustain a 3.8 pace for at least one hour.
We knew we had struck a chord when views and interactions on our social media channels steadily increased, and we received a lot of positive feedback.
To exceed everyone's expectations, we knew everything had to be nothing short of exceptional — and that required assembling a powerhouse team to conquer the challenge.
The Event:
To create a seamless connection between the online and offline experience, we hosted the World Record Attempt at our flagship store in Munich, completely rebranding a key segment to ensure a steady stream of supporters cheering on our athletes.
But we didn’t stop there—we made it a 24-hour livestream with a live chat visible to the runners, giving them an extra boost throughout the event. To keep the energy high for a full 24 hours, we brought in two dynamic hosts, Eugen Fink and Maren Schiller, who teamed up with Flo Neuschwanger to keep the momentum going nonstop!
And, of course, we kept our social media buzzing with constant updates on our stories, plus 7 reels and posts to keep the hype alive.
